Carson City

WNCC art students selling original ceramics

Art students at Western Nevada Community College will sell original ceramics to raise funds for art department equipment, and provide an option for holiday gift giving. The sale will be from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday at the College Gallery in the Bristlecone Building. Bowls, pitchers, platters and pots are among the pieces students have donated, and the artists will be meet their customers and collect payment.

WNCC Carson City is at 2201 West College Parkway.

Eclectic collection at Caffeine! Gallery

Capital City Arts Initiative's Caffeine! Gallery at Comma Coffee presents WNCC/An Eclectic Collection, an exhibition of artwork by WNCC faculty and students, during the month of December.

There will be a reception from 5-6 p.m. Wednesday. Comma Coffee is at 312 S. Carson St. The exhibition and reception are free, and the public is cordially invited.

Dayton

4-H ski program signups deadline is Wednesday

The last opportunity to register for the 2006 season of the Dayton 4-H Ski and Snowboard Club is 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Dayton Intermediate School. Trips to Mount Rose will be on Fridays beginning in January.

Cost of the six-week program (including transportation by charter bus, lessons, lift ticket and equipment rental) is $245; $203, if you provide your own equipment.

The club is open to all Dayton students ages 9 through high school. Students must meet school eligibility requirements (grade C or better in all subjects, no discipline issues). Scholarships are available for members who complete 4-H record books.

Parents are also invited to participate and receive reduced lift ticket rates.

Lake Tahoe

Legislative committee meeting canceled

Today's scheduled meeting of the Nevada Legislature's Tahoe-Marlette Lake oversight committee has been canceled.

The meeting, to have been held at the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency offices in Stateline, will be rescheduled at a later date.

The legislative committee is an ongoing panel which oversees issues involving the Lake Tahoe Basin and the Marlette Lake Water System.
