Richard L. Pendergast

A memorial service for Richard L. Pendergast, 67, a Carson City resident for the past three years, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Bread of Life Christian Fellowship, 10042 Highway 50 E., Mound House, with the Rev. Barbara Greene, sister of Mrs. Pendergast, presiding.

Mr. Pendergast died July 28, 2005, in Carson City. He was born Aug. 29, 1937, in Ventura, Calif., to Charles M. and Virginia Smith Pendergast.

He was a high school graduate.

He married Villia "Vee" Johnson on Aug. 2, 1962, in Carson City.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Oceanside, Calif.

Mr. Pendergast retired from the civil service. He was a Scottish Rites Mason.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, retiring after 20 years and spent 10 years in the military reserve.

Among his survivors are his wife; children Linda Hanger, Shelby Pendergast and S. Scott Pendergast; stepmother, Phyllis Pendergast; sister, Phyllis Ann Anderson; brother, Phillip Pendergast; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Cancer Society.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
