Carson's Johnston is honored

Carson High senior Sarah Johnston has been recognized by the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association as one of Northern Nevada's top 10 student-athletes.


Johnston played soccer and basketball at Carson. She carries a 4.0 grade point average with honors classes in AP calculus, AP biology, AP English, AP government and AP literature.


She scored a perfect 36 on the ACT and scored 1,540 out of 1,600 on the SAT. She is the valedictorian out of a graduating class of 505.


Among her honors and achievements includes being the president of the National Honor Society and has organized blood drives, toy drives and a tutoring program. She is also a Link Crew Leader.


She is a National Merit finalist, a Presidential Scholars Program candidate, earned all-state academic honors in soccer and basketball, a member of Who's Who Among American High School students, an American Chemical Society Chemisty Achievement Award recipient, received the Senatorial Certificate of Achievement for Outstanding Utilization of Technology in Education Environment and a National Honor Roll member.


She was also a member of a Jam On It basketball team that qualified for the AAU Nationals.
