Woman accused of posing as nurse

A Carson City woman already on the run from law enforcement in Boulder, Colo., is facing felony charges for allegedly practicing medicine without a license after she was accused of posing as a nurse at a Carson City oncologist's office.

Rosemary Murroni, aka Rosemary Chernoff, was stopped by Carson City Sheriff's Department deputies in her Cadillac on Friday at Roop Street and Industrial Park Drive around 11:30 a.m. after receiving a call from a doctor's office complaining of an unlicensed woman attempting to work as a registered nurse.

When questioned at the scene, Murroni admitted she had made an application to work as a nurse at Dr. Jorge Perez's office and affirmed that she didn't have a valid state of Nevada registered nurse's license.

According to the Nevada State Board of Nursing, Murroni already had a previous charge against her for practicing medicine without a license.

Police reports confirm that Murroni was also a fugitive from justice from Boulder, Colo., on an unknown charge.

The suspect was placed on a no-bail hold and transferred to the Carson City Sheriff's Office Detention Center pending further investigation.

Dr. Perez's office is closed on weekends and could not be reached for comment.
