2 still hospitalized in Sunday crash

DAYTON - Victims from a Sunday accident in Dayton remained hospitalized Wednesday.

Julie McGuire, 48, is listed in critical condition, and Carl Sedgwick, 41, is listed in fair condition, according to Judy Davis, public relations specialist with Washoe Medical Center.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, McGuire was eastbound on Highway 50 East in Dayton when she attempted to make a left turn onto Riverboat Drive about 7:50 p.m. She crossed into the path of the westbound Sedgwick who struck the left front of her vehicle.

McGuire was ejected from her vehicle and sustained a severe head injury. Sedgwick suffered an injury to his chest. Sedgwick's juvenile son was treated for moderate injuries at Washoe Medical Center.

Both McGuire and Sedgwick were taken by helicopter to Washoe Medical Center.

Neither driver was wearing a seat belt, which contributed to the severity of the injuries, said Trooper Todd Hartline.
