Dayton softball splits

DAYTON SPLITS


Sierra Barnwell went 4-for-5 with a double and two runs as the Dayton softball team salvaged a split against Truckee, winning the nightcap 7-4. Truckee won the opener 10-3.


Nicole Greer was the winning pitcher, throwing a five-hitter and striking out eight for Dayton (2-6, 1-6). She was also 2-for-3 with a double and three runs. Lauren Fisher also went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run.


Also for Dayton, Brittany Hill had a hit and a run, Camara Ramirez, Sara Simmons and Bailey Garcia all had a hit and an RBI and Melony Cox added a hit.


In the opener, Simmons was 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI, Greer doubled and had two runs and Fisher, Ramirez and Hill all added a hit. Greer struck out seven in taking the loss.


CARSON JVS SWEEP


The Carson junior varsity softball team swept North Valleys, winning the opener 12-2 and the nightcap 12-1.


Jennifer DeRosa struck out four in picking up the win. Sarah Evans had a hit, an RBI and three runs, Erin Johansen scored three runs and Lauren Vaccaro added a hit and a run.


In the nightcap, Elysa Gutierrez struck out five for the win and also went 2-for-3 with three runs. Evans was 2-for-3 with two runs and a double, Jessica Leonard went 2-for-3 with two runs and a triple, Emily Tobias had a triple, RBI and a run and Vaccaro added a hit and a run for Carson (9-5-1).
