We heard from a "secret source" that Joe Bob's by the Hot Springs is going to reopen as a strip joint ... so, our source thinks the "breasty" chicken billboard on Highway 395 was prophetic.
Gee, as kids are "crisping" themselves by the pool, they can think about "chicken strips" in a whole new way. What do the city "soup"-ervisors have to say about this? (yeah, we know we're stretching it) Or, was this just a "tasty tidbit?"....

Maizie was all set to go for "coffee" at Bones & Scones, 'till Carolyn told her it was a "doggy bakery and bow-tique" in the new Carson Quail Park on S. Carson St. (841-DOGS) and she wouldn't fit in (well, most of the time, anyway) ... it will carry all kinds of neat things for your pets, and is owned by Felicia Griffin and Stacy Bayless ... arf and meow ....

And, since we're on pet stuff ... we both love Duke on the Bush's baked beans commercials ... such a baaaaad dog! And, if anyone wants a "person" for a cat ... we have a friend who wants a job where she will be fed, petted, and allowed to sleep for 22 hours a day. If there are any takers, just let us know ....

It was great to see John Mason this week at the Jefferson-Jackson Day dinner ... he's running for the Supreme Court in the upcoming election, so we hope he uses his cups shaped like "Mason jars" for campaigning again ... our votes can be bought so easily ....

The Carson Nugget put on a fine dinner that night ... the steaks melted right in our mouths (well, so did a lot of other stuff ... but the steaks were marvy) ... and, we had a great time ... particularly at our table.
We got to sit with former Assemblyman Bob Price, Sue Morrow and her brother, Jack Cohan, Pam Crowell, John Ponticello from LV, Gertrude Gottschalk and her sister-in-law, Alice Downer, and our new Supreme Court Justice, Michael Douglas (who will also run this year, but for a different seat than John Mason) ... talk about neat people ... they were all delightful and fun.
And Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman bubbled over about the things going on in the big city to the south. He envisions it to be the New York City of the West ... and with his enthusiasm, it'll happen ... but, as "they" say, "It's a nice place to visit, but ...." Give us Carson City anytime ....

There was a letter to the editor in the paper this week that stated we were out to "liberate" Afghanistan and Iraq ... excuse us, but wasn't it our mission to "beat the crap" out of those who inflicted the horror of 9/11 on us? When did we become the world's "liberators," and when is it going to stop? Get real ... we're siphoning billions of our dollars into this debacle, have lost sight of our goal, and still haven't gotten the SOBs ....

A friend wrote to us and asked if we'd heard about the soldier in Iraq who married an Iraqi woman with U.S. permission, but hasn't been able yet to get a green card for his bride so that she can come back to the states with him ... our friend was wondering why the Air Force doesn't fly her to Mexico so she can just walk across the border with the rest of the gang ... hasta la vista, baby ....

Jackie Maye reports that five students received scholarships from the Larry Holloway funds ... all were former students of his ... what a great way to remember a wonderful man. She also wanted to brag that her students at TMCC came up with some great composer presentations, 50 percent creativity and 50 percent content ... she got an interpretive dance with sign language, a CD-rom movie, haiku, a poster, a collage, and a kid playing "Misty" on the piano and talking about jazz ... congrats, JM, on bringing a lot of people into the artistic community with such pizzazz ...
