August A. Congestio

A memorial service for August A. Congestio, 94, a Carson City resident for the past 27 years, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Congestio died March 21, 2004, in Carson City. He was born Aug. 19, 1909, in Rochester, N.Y., to Anthony and Nancy Justa Congestio.

He married Estelle Sorochty in February 1936.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Covina, Calif.

Mr. Congestio was a machinist at Aerojet General Corp. in Azusa, Calif., for 22 years, retiring in 1969. After retiring, he worked as a general contractor, building houses, including all of his own homes. He was a past member of the Moose Lodge in El Monte, Calif. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Louie, in 1994.

Among his survivors are his wife of Carson City; daughters and sons-in-law Gloria and John Wahlborg of Mesa, Ariz., Marlene and Tim Foster of Dayton and Elaine and Howard Fisher of Carson City; sisters Minnie La Vigne of Simi Valley, Calif., and Helen Mezzie and Eleanor Congestio, both of Grants Pass, Ore.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
