Wild turkey releasesby NDOW in Nevada

According to Craig Mortimore, Upland Game Staff Biologist for the Nevada Department of Wildlife, these are some recent wild turkey releases in the State of Nevada:

Merriam's Subspecies:

Big Wash-Hidden Canyon Ranch in White Pine County: 11 toms and 47 hens.

Silver Creek Ranch in White Pine County: 23 toms and 27 hens.

Total of 34 toms and 74 hens.

Donor source: Lewiston in the Idaho Panhandle and Treasure Valley in Nampa, Idaho.

Rio Grande Subspecies:

Highland Range-Water Canyon in Lincoln County: 10 toms and 40 hens.

Delamar Mountains-Riggs Spring in Lincoln County: 7 toms and 34 hens.

Battle Mountain-Tomera Ranch in Lander County: 15 toms and 35 hens.

Lahontan State Recreational Area: 11 toms and 25 hens.

Verdi: 1 tom and 2 hens (Sent to a release site in Verdi to associate with what is believed to be the last survivor of a 1996 turkey release at the Belli Ranch).

Total of 44 toms and 136 hens.

Donor source: Cross Timbers region in the vicinity of San Angelo, Texas.
