Obituary: Harriet Jean Garling-McKenzie

An inurnment service for Harriet Jean Garling-McKenzie, 81, a Carson City resident for the past 32 years, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Mrs. Garling-McKenzie died June 15, 2003, at home. She was born April 22, 1922, in Portland, Ore., to Oscar and Florence Stake Moline.

She graduated from high school in Goldendale, Wash.

She married John Garling on Feb. 1, 1946, in Portland. He died in 1989. She married Walter J. McKenzie on April 23, 1994, in Carson City.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Virginia then overseas for 24 years in several countries.

Mrs. Garling-McKenzie was a homemaker.

Among her survivors are her husband, Walter of Carson City; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Susie Garling of Dayton; daughter and son-in-law Patty and Don Houston of Carson City; daughter Lyn Garling of Pennsylvania; sisters Phoebe Robertson of Goldendale, Lela Bush of Washington and Marie Holm of Laverne, Calif.; brother, Bud Moline of Washington; and three grandchildren.

Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
