Obituary: Ray L. Edison

Ray L. Edison, 83, a longtime Carson City, Gardnerville and Zephyr Cove resident, died May 30, 2003, at his home in Carson City. He was born April 28, 1920, in Larned, Kan., to John Henrey and Hettie Mae Meyers Edison.

He married Farrie Stewart Jan. 30, 1941, in Reno.

Mr. Edison installed the first television system for Nick Sahati, now Harrah's Lake Tahoe. He also worked at the Carson Valley Mercantile in Gardnerville in the 1940s and drove the U.S. Mail truck from Gardnerville to Markleeville. He enjoyed prospecting for gold.

He was preceded in death by his twin sister Faye Gordon and sister Maryellen Mackie.

Among his survivors are his wife of Carson City; daughters, Sarita Ramsey, of Carson City, Dianne McMurtry, of Stagecoach, Claudia Smith, of San Jose, Calif. and Laura Deen, of Stagecoach; sister, Billie Constant, of Pine Knot, Ky.; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Capitol City Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
