Obituary for Irene Cecilia Schmiedt

A memorial Mass for Irene Cecilia Schmiedt, 81, a Carson City resident for the past 29 years, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

There will be a Rosary at St. Teresa at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Mrs. Schmiedt died Jan. 14, 2003, in Carson City. She was born Nov. 19, 1921, in Belfield, N.D., to Henry and Louise Denault Richard.

She was raised in Belfield and attended school there.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Granada Hills, Calif.

Mrs. Schmiedt was a homemaker. She loved to cook and enjoyed making crafts and gardening. She was a Catholic and a member of St. Teresa of Avila Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Vincen Bowles in 1992, second husband Darrell Schmiedt in 1998, and daughters Annette Kucera in December 1997 and Marilyn Bowles in December 1945.

Among her survivors are: sons Terrence Bowles of El Dorado Hills, Calif., and Duane Bowles of Yucaipa, Calif.; daughters Jackie Rasor of Carson City, Joan Simonek of Fallbrook, Calif., and Jeanine Stiles of Placerville, Calif.; sister Helen Ficek of Des Moines, Iowa; brother Walter Richard of Dickinson, N.D.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Teresa of Avila Catholic School Scholarship Fund, 567 S. Richmond Ave., Carson City, NV 89703.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
