A gathering of family and friends of Gay Carlene Cockrill, 54, a Virginia City resident for the past 15 years, will be at 3 pm. today at FitzHenry's Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cockrill died April 1, 2003, at home. She was born Jan. 24, 1949, in Long Beach, Calif., to Carl and Nadine "Penny" Gay Elyash.
Before moving to Virginia City, she lived in Lakewood, Calif.
Mrs. Cockrill enjoyed fishing, cooking, computers, camping and RV-ing. She was a Protestant.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Among her survivors are her father of Lakewood; husband, Jim of Virginia City; uncle, Liberty Elyash of Lakewood; and brother and sister-in-law, Matthew and Kathleen Elyash of Sacramento.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
