Carson Midgets Pop Warner football shuts out Reno

The Carson Midgets Pop Warner football team improved to 2-0 with a 20-0 win over the Reno Titans.


The Senators rolled to more than 300 yards rushing for the second straight week. Tony Roberts led the way with an 85-yard touchdown run and rushed for 182 yards.


Travis Lamborn ran for 128 yards and a touchdown. Curtis McBroom scored the final touchdown. The blocking of Blake Anderson, Rob Valerius and Donivan Dean paved the way and quarterback Spencer Van Dyke also played well.


In the first quarter, the Senator defense held Reno to minus 20 yards. Tim Peters and Daniel Cunningham each had four sacks, Roberts had three sacks and Justin Shinn had two sacks.


The Senator defense has posted two shutouts. Kyle Churchley, Frisco Merrill, Tyson Curran, Sean Christensen, Mike McBroom, Brooks Greenlee, Wes Riddick, Scott Pierce, Rich Norgrove, Austin Bartosz and Johnny Kim have all played well defensively.


So far this season, the Senators have 13 sacks, six forced fumbles, a safety and held Reno to minus yardage. The Senators will play the Sparks Wolf Pack on Friday in Sparks.
