Local gymnasts strong at Silver State Games

R.C. All-Star Gymnastics of Carson City had many outstanding performances at the Silver State Games recently held in Sparks.


Among the top performers for the club has been Jared Grosscopf in the class 6 boys division. Grosscopf has been a top finisher in many competitions across the United States.


At the Silver State Games, Grosscopf placed second in the all-around by taking second in the pummel horse, vault, parallel bars, horizontal bar, floor exercise and rings. He scored 9.3 in the vault and 9.1 in the floor.


In the class 7 division, Jake Reid placed third in the all-around, winning the vault and taking third in the floor, pummel horse and rings, fourth in the parallel bars and fifth in the horizontal bar. Reid scored a 9.0 in his first competition in the floor.


Five-year-old Sam Robertson placed first in the all-around by taking first in the floor and vault and second in the rings and parallel bars.


Six-year-old Michael Esenarro took second in the all-around by winning the rings and parallel bars and placing second in the floor and third in the vault.


Three-year-old Ryan Walker placed third in the all-around by taking second in the vault and third in the floor, rings and parallel bars.


Competing in level 5 girls, Caressa Jared and Shelley Smith have both qualified for level 6. Jared placed second in the all-around with a 33.6, winning the vault with a 9.3. She also placed second in the floor and third in the parallel bars and balance beam.


Smith took third in the all-around with a 32.4. She placed second in the parallel bars, third in the vault and fourth in the beam and floor.


At level 4, Hannah Ediss won the all-around by winning the floor and taking second in the parallel bars and third in the vault and beam.


In novice level 4 for 12 and over, Danielle Hollenbeck-Pringle placed fourth in the all-around with a 31.3 She took second in the vault and floor, third in the beam and fourth in the parallel bars.


Also in 12 and over, Lyndsey Graham placed fifth in the all-around by taking fourth in the beam and fifth in the vault, parallel bars and floor.


In 10-11, Sarah Melia took third in the all-around with a 30.6. She won the floor and vault and took third in the parallel bars and beam.


Brittney Berumen placed fourth in the all-around by taking third in the floor an fourth in the vault, parallel bars and beam.


For 9-year-olds, Hayley Ignatich placed fifth in the all-around by taking fourth in the vault and fifth in all other events. Metina Mohr took sxith in the all-around by taking fifth in the vault and sixth in all other events.


For ages 7-8, Emma Dempsey took second in the all-around by placing second in the beam and floor, third in the parallel bars and fourth in the vault. Padon Moore took third in the all-around after winning the vault and placing second in the parallel bars and fourth in the beam and floor.


For ages 5-6, Gina Gallo placed fourth in the all-around after taking second in teh vault, third in the floor and fourth in the parallel bars and beam. Mackenzie Penera took fifth in the all-around after placing fourth in the vault, fifth in the parallel bars and beam and sixth in the floor.


In addition, Skye Simpson took sixth in the all-around after placing fifth in the vault, beam and floor and sixth in the parallel bars.
