Suspect still at large

Despite the investigation of more than 100 tips, a Johnson Lane-area murder suspect remains at large two weeks later.

Christopher Fiegehen, wanted in connection with the Feb. 10 stabbing death of his ex-girlfriend's step-father and the attempted murder of his wife, remains missing.

Douglas County Sheriff Ron Pierini said Friday his investigators are unsure if the suspect is in the area or has fled the region.

Fiegehen's blue 1994 Ford pickup was found near the Truckee, Calif., train station on Feb. 11. He was last seen the day of Alan Chorkey's murder in Truckee.

A reward of up to $5,000 was offered Wednesday by the Douglas County Secret Witness Program for information leading to Fiegehen's arrest and/or conviction.

Also, according to an amended complaint filed by the Douglas County District Attorney's Office, Alan Chorkey was killed by two stab wounds to the neck and one to the abdomen.

The original complaint against Fiegehen filed the day of the murder stated Chorkey was shot to death.

Chorkey's wife, Lorelle, was shot, according to the complaint. The remainder of the court file was ordered sealed by Justice of the Peace James EnEarl on Feb. 15.

The no-bail warrant issued for Fiegehen's arrest also states that Lorelle Chorkey identified "Chris" as the shooter to deputies.

Chorkey remains hospitalized in critical condition but has stabilized, Pierini said Friday. She's the mother of Fiegehen's former girlfriend, Alane Dockstader.

Fiegehen and Dockstader began dating in May 1999, but broke up last month because of Fiegehen's "controlling attitude and physical violence," according to court documents.

Pierini said several local law enforcement agencies continue to help Douglas County in the search for Fiegehen.

Douglas County prosecutors have charged Fiegehen with Class A felony murder with the use of a deadly weapon and Class B felony attempted murder with the use of a firearm.

Information on what type of weapons were used during the shootings has not been released.

Fiegehen, 22, is about 6 feet tall, weighs 180 pounds and has very short dark brown hair that is sometimes bleached blonde. Fiegehen wears various types of hats, but seems to favor baseball type caps. Most feature snowboarding logos. Fiegehen has blue eyes and both ears are pierced.
