A memorial mass for John Manuel Aberasturi, 78, will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 5335 Snyder Ave. A rosary will precede Mass at 7 p.m.
Mr. Aberasturi died Sept. 28, 2001, at his residence. He was born Oct. 28, 1922, to John Manuel and Martina Merica Aberasturi in Austin.
He was a Carson City resident for 40 years, coming from Reno.
He graduated from the University of Nevada and received his master's degree from the University of Chicago before taking a position as superintendent of the Nevada State Children's Home, where he worked for 20 years. He was an active member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
Among his survivors are his wife, Ruth Aberasturi of Carson City; sons John and Paul Aberasturi, both of Reno, daughters Tina Akerley and Ruthie Gordon, both of Carson City.
