MINDEN - The San Mateo-Foster City School District expects a response next week from Pendery Clark concerning its job offer.
Mel Thompson, a San Mateo, Calif., school board member, said Friday that Clark was extended an offer on Thursday to be the district's new superintendent.
"All I can say is she was extended an offer yesterday," Thompson said. "She is considering the offer."
Clark was in a daylong meeting Friday and could not be reached for comment.
If Clark accepts the San Mateo job, she would see about a $40,000 pay raise. Also, Clark's family lives in the Bay area.
A brochure advertising the job lists its starting pay as $135,000, according to area news reports.
The figure is also listed as subject to negotiation.
Clark makes $94,200 annually in Douglas County after receiving a 2 percent raise in June.
Tish Busselle, San Mateo's assistant superintendent said Friday no announcement is imminent.
The specter of Clark's possible departure from Douglas County after nine years at the helm of its public school system is in its third week.
Her Douglas County contract expires at the end of the 2004 school year.
Douglas County school trustees have wished Clark good luck in her job search but have stayed silent on possible interim or permanent replacements.
