Galena volleyball routs Reed

Lauren Wallace and Joanna Hixon had strong all-around matches as the Galena volleyball team rolled to a 15-3, 15-4, 15-10 win.


Hixon had 15 kills and five blocks and also had an outstanding match on defense and serving, She had 21 digs and served for 18 points and one ace.


Wallace had 31 assists, seven blocks, five digs and served for seven points. Also for Galena (22-5, 11-1), Whitney Dibble had seven kills and two blocks, Carl Kolesar had six kills, Melissa Reaney had two kills and two blocks, Teresa Miller served had eight digs and Chelsea Appelbaum served for seven points.


Galena was coming off a 15-6, 15-3, 15-4 win over Spanish Springs. In addition, the Galena junior varsity and freshmen teams beat Reed.


DAYTON DROPS TWO


The Dayton volleyball team lost two matches over the weekend, losing to Lowry 15-8, 12-15, 8-15, 9-15 and to Spring Creek 15-9, 13-15, 9-15, 9-15.


Against Lowry, Rachel Hurt had 12 kills, Carey Kytle had eight kills and seven blocks, Bri Savage and had seven kills and one block, Amanda Sbragia had six kills and five blocks, Amanda Ring served for 12 points and an ace, Ashley Reese had five kills, one block, 19 assists and served for 11 points and Sarah Connet served for six points and had eight assists.


Agaisnt Spring Creek, Hurt had 12 kills and served for five points, Kytle had seven kills and four blocks, Savage had seven kills, Sbragia had three kills and five blocks, Reese served for 12 points and four aces and had three kills, two blocks and 22 assists, Christy Fox had five kills, Connet served for eight points and had five assists and Bridgette Galles served for four points and an ace and had nine assists.
