Claim Jumpers Mountain Bike Festival set

The fifth annual Claim Jumpers Mountain Bike Festival will be held Aug. 18-19 in Austin.

There will be $1,000 in prize money offered to the top five places in the pro-expert cross country race and $1,000 offered to the top seven in the pro-expert downhill race.

There are beginning sport and pro-expert classes for men and women ranging from ages 13 and under to 65 and over. There will also be a free kids race for those under 14 and a clydesdale division for those weighing more than 200 pounds. A total of $4,000 in cash and drawing prizes will be offered.

The fee is $30 for cross country, $28 for downhill or $50 for both. There will also be a NORBA license fee of $5 for a one-day beginner and $10 for sport.

The cross country race will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday and the downhill event will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday. Registration on both days will begin at 7 a.m.
