Two arrested in alleged kidnapping of 2-year-old girl

Two Carson City men face felony kidnapping allegations after they reportedly took a 2-year-old girl away from her mother's Woodside Drive home Friday.

Luis Zacarias Jr., 24, was arrested for investigation of felony kidnapping and misdemeanor child endangerment and was held on $100,000 bail.

Felipe Ledezma-Aguilar, 19, was arrested for investigation of felony accessory to kidnapping and misdemeanor reckless driving and was also held on $100,000 bail.

According to the Carson City Sheriff's Department arrest report, Zacarias and his girlfriend had been arguing in their Woodside Drive apartment Friday afternoon. The woman, who was not identified, told deputies they had decided to break up and were arguing about visitation with the children.

The argument got out of hand and she called 911, the woman said. At that point, she said, Zacarias took the girl from her, ran out the back door, jumped a 6-foot fence and ran out of the area, the report said. The woman said her 6-year-old son followed and tried to stop Zacarias.

She told deputies that Zacarias got into a white Mercury Cougar driven by another man, who sped away from the area. The woman provided a license number of the car and description of the driver.

As she was giving the report to the deputy, a car of that description drove past the apartment and the woman confirmed it was the same car and driver she had described. Deputies questioned the driver, Ledezma-Aguilar, who told them he had left Zacarias and the girl in Mound House.

As a search was being conducted in Mound House, Zacarias called the sheriff's department about 7:15 p.m. to say he and the girl were at Carson Street and College Parkway. He was arrested there and the girl was returned to her mother.

The mother told deputies that Zacarias was not the father of the 2-year-old girl, the arrest report said.
