Restaurant ripped off, one arrested.

A Modesto, Calif., man was arrested just hours after money was reported stolen from Adele's Restaurant on North Carson Street.

Investigators believe Craig Martin Stolze, 23, and at least two other people stole an undisclosed amount of money from the restaurant about 5:15 p.m. Thursday before fleeing on foot, said Chief Sheriff's Deputy Scott Burau.

Stolze was later found at the Carson Nugget about 9:10 p.m., where he was reportedly exchanging small bills for larger bills at the cashier's cage.

"We broadcast to different places like the casinos and grocery stores where money could be exchanged right after the burglary," Burau said. "The casino called and said there was a man making change who matched the description."

Burau said investigators are still on the lookout for others they suspect may be involved in the crime. According to reports, Stolze was caught with $800 cash in his pockets, which only amounted to a portion of the total amount missing.

"The owner of the restaurant positively identified the rubber bands and the money with staple marks on it as the money that came from his store," the report indicates.

Burau said Stolze gained entry to the business through an unlocked side door and made his way to the office where the money was being stored.

"They were fairly selective in what they took," Burau said. "He walked out past the bar during dinner time."

Employees became suspicious of the suspect when they could not recall having seen him earlier. A check of the office revealed the bills were missing. Coins were left behind.

Burau said Stolze was not cooperating with authorities in revealing information about the alleged crime and accomplices. Authorities are not clear how long Stolze has been in Carson City or were he resided.

Stolze was held on a felony burglary charge with bail set at $25,000.
