Obituary: Robert William Rose

A Mass for Robert William Rose, 78, a Carson City resident for the past 18 years, will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. today at Walton's Chapel of the Valley with a Rosary at 7 p.m.

Mr. Rose died June 28, 2000, at Carson Healthcare. He was born Nov. 26, 1921 in Kansas City, Mo., to Jesse Leon and Helen Tobin Rose.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Torrance, Calif.

Mr. Rose was a police officer in Los Angeles for 25 years. He belonged to Renew and Blue Line. He was a Catholic and a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

He served with the 346th Bomb Squadron during World War II where he was a top turret gunner on a B-17 flying fortress. He flew 25 missions over Germany and was awarded the Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Among his survivors are his wife Louise of Carson City; sons Robert of Carson City and James L. of New York; daughters Helen Nelson of Vancouver, Wash., Maureen Mortimer of Gardnerville and Cecelia Siarotta of Carson City; brother Lee of Missouri; sisters Helen Miller of Carson City, Joann Dierks of Denver, Colo., Betty Hafner of Placentia, Calif., Shirley Henze of Carson City and Martha Dixon of California; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.
