Obituary: Robert E. Skamel

A family graveside service for Robert E. Skamel, 75, a former resident of Carson City, was Monday in the Tahoma National Cemetery for Veterans in Kent, Wash.

Mr. Skamel died Aug. 30, 1999, at Valley Meadows Care Center in Gardnerville. He was born in Longbranch, N.J., Jan. 12, 1924, to Robert and Margaret Donnelly Skamel.

He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II.

He was preceded in death by his brother, William.

Among his survivors are his wife, Phyllis Astle, of Lacey, Wash.; sons, David, of Lacey and Robert Jr., of Verdi; daughter, Karen Hall, of Tacoma, Wash.; brother, Joseph, of Lemoore, Calif.; sister, Peggy Price, of Albany, Ga.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Cremation was at Carson Sierra Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Fund for Alcohol Abuse Research.
