Obituary: James Achen

A funeral for James Achen, 66, a Carson City resident for the past eight years, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at FitzHenry's Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at FitzHenry's.

Mr. Achen died April 16, 2000, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born April 19, 1933, in Fergus Falls, Minn., to Charles and Emma Bates Achen.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in North Dakota.

Mr. Achen retired from the U.S. Navy as a CSI (Food Service Director). He loved woodworking and crafts using his hands. He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Devils Lake, N.D.

Among his survivors are his wife, Lillian of Carson City; sons, Charles and Jeffrey, both of Stockton, Calif. and Lawrence of Hollister, Calif.; daughter, Michelle Bean of Sumerville, S.C.; brothers, Walt of Renton, Wash. and Wallace of Baudette, Minn.; sister, Lois of Baudette and eight grandchildren.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
