Obituary: Helen Edna Head

A funeral for Helen Edna Head, 79, a Reno, Sparks and Carson City, resident for the past 35 years, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Calvary Baptist Church in Dayton.

Mrs. Head died Nov. 1, 1999, at Sierra Convalescent Center. She was born March 19, 1920, in Iowa, to Harry and Julia Ann Johns Levan.

Before moving to the area, she lived in Sacramento.

Mrs. Head was a cottage parent for the State of Nevada Children's Home. She was a member of the Senior Center of Dayton and named Senior of the Year. She was also a member of the 55 Club and the Calvary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton; sister, Virginia Hall and son, Stephen.

Among her survivors are her daughters, Marsha Smith, of Dayton, and Gwen Powers, of Electric City, Wash.; brothers, John Levan, of San Antonio, Texas, and William Levan, of Albuquerque, N.M.; and sister, Mary Jones, of Stockton, Calif.

Burial will be at the Dayton Cemetery.

John Sparks Memorial Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
