Obituary: Gerard Hanford

A memorial service for Gerard Beach "Pete" Hanford, 83, a Carson Valley resident for the past 14 years, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Gardnerville with Pastor Pete Nelson officiating.

Mr. Hanford died March 15, 2000, at the Carson Valley Medical Center. He was born Oct. 5, 1916, in Los Angeles, to Gerard Beach and Minerva Robinson Hanford.

He was a graduate of the University of Nevada.

Before moving to the Carson Valley, he lived in San Jose, Calif.

Mr. Hanford was a mechanical engineer in the telecommunications industry. He and his wife were very active members of the Republican Party. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. He loved to travel, loved the narrow gauge steam railroads and was an active member of the Soaring Society.

Among his survivors are his wife of 48 years Lorene of Gardnerville; sons Ronald of Vancouver, Wash., Robert of El Dorado Hills, Calif., and Richard of Monte Sereno, Calif.; daughter Barbara Tindale of Stateline; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Walton's Douglas County Mortuary, Minden, is in charge of arrangements.
