Legislative Lands Committee in Washington

The Legislative Public Lands Committee is in Washington D.C. this week meeting with congressional representatives on legislation before Congress dealing with public lands.

At the top of the list are proposals that would allow the auction of public lands to let Nevada communities grow.

Sen. Dean Rhoads, R-Tuscarora, said the proposals are similar to the Southern Nevada Land Management Act which he described as very successful.

The committee is looking forward to once again visiting with the Bureau of Land Management, which manages 68 percent of Nevada's land, he said.
