Governor's Mansion holds open house

The Governor's Mansion, located at 600 Mountain St., will hold an open house for the public from 1-4 p.m. Saturday.

All areas of the mansion that underwent renovations will be open for viewing. Areas include the entry and foyer, sitting rooms to the south and north, kitchen, library and bedrooms. Docents will be on hand to answer questions of visitors.

"Nevada Day is quite different but a lot of fun to celebrate," said Helen Wiemer, mansion coordinator.

"Every room has had something done to it. People are interested in seeing it so we decided it needed to be open because we were getting so many calls. They will be allowed to just mill about at their own leisure and look at things.

"They can do anything they like, definitely within reason, of course."

Cameras and video cameras are allowed. The Governor and Mrs. Guinn will also be at the mansion for the tours and will pose for photos for anyone wishing to do so.
