BLUE LAKES (UPPER AND LOWER):

Upper Blue Lake: No report.

Lower Blue Lake: No report.

BOCA RESERVOIR: No report.

BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR: Andrew Sears of Ken's Sporting Goods Store reported, "The fishing was pretty good for the opener. We had a 9-pound, 3-ounce rainbow taken on a gold Kastmaster lure. It was caught by an 8-year old while trolling.

There was also a 7-pound rainbow taken on a Fire Tiger Rapala and a 6-pound, 1-ounce rainbow on a black/silver Rapala.

Lots of 3-5 pounders on either Rapala lures or yellow Power Bait.

CAPLES LAKE: No report.

CARSON RIVERS (EAST AND WEST) IN CALIF.:

East Carson River: Lots of limits of rainbows, 1-1.5 pounds, on Saturday.

West Carson River: Lots of limits of rainbows, 1-1.5 pounds, on Saturday. Largest was 4.5 pounds on red salmon eggs.

CONVICT LAKE AND CONVICT CREEK:

Convict Lake: No report.

JUNE LAKE LOOP (GRANT-GULL-JUNE-SILVER LAKES-RUSH CREEK):

The winner of the June Lake Loop Chamber of Commerce Monster Trout Derby was a 10-pound, 1-ounce rainbow from June Lake on a a Rapala lure.

The heaviest stringer of trout weighed 26-pounds, 8-ounces.

Grant Lake: A 6-pound, 7-ounce.

Gull Lake: A 8-pound, 12 ounce.

June Lake: A 10-pound, 1-ounce rainbow on a Rapala lure. A 8-pound, 7-ounce on a Rapala lure. On Monday, a 7-pound, 9-ounce rainbow on rainbow Power Bait and a 7-pound, 4-ounce rainbow on a Thomas Buoyant lure.

Silver Lake: A 6-pound, 1-ounce rainbow on Power Bait by Tyler Smith, age 8.

Rush Creek: A 9-pound rainbow on a Roostertail lure. A 6-pound, 4-ounce.

Reverse Creek: A 7-pound, 5-ounce rainbow on Power Bait.

KIRMAN (CARMEN) LAKE: No report.

MAMMOTH LAKES AREA:

George Lake: Still frozen.

PYRAMID LAKE: The Gilly Sporting Goods Store provided this update, "The shore fishing at "The Nets" is fantastic. It's as good as it's ever going to get. The fly fishermen are catching lots of cutthroat trout, up to 10 pounds or larger. They are all nice, solid fish. It is real crowded with all of the fly fishermen and the spincasters in that area."

SOUTH-NORTH-INTAKE 2-BISHOP CREEK (WEST OF BISHOP):

LAKE TAHOE - North Shore: Mickey Daniels of Mickey's Big Mack Charters reported, "Limits of average sized Mackinaw trout, up to 6 pounds. We're fishing in 250-450 feet of water, very early in the morning, in front of the Carnelian Bay-King's Beach area. We are trolling with Herring Dodger flasher blades, together with pearl-colored Apex lures or live minnows."

LAKE TAHOE - SOUTH SHORE: Jack Martin of the Sportsmen's Sporting Goods Store at South Lake Lake said, " A 24-pound Mackinaw was caught late Sunday in front of Camp Richardson. It was caught while drifting a minnow in 140 feet of water.

Mackinaw fishing is rated fair-to-good. Some limits but not red hot. The Macks are running 2-5 pounds. They are being taken trolling with silver flasher blades and live minnows, Flatfish or Rapala lures in 90-160 feet of water. Some also being caught jigging."

TOPAZ LAKE: Chuck Fields of the Topaz Marina checked in with this report, "It was slow this past weekend due to the California opener. Shore fishermen were using Power Bait or worms. Boaters were trolling on the south end with flashers and nightcrawlers. A few limits but it took all day to get them. Some 2-3 pounders, but they were few and far between."

UPPER TWIN LAKE-LOWER TWIN LAKE-ROBINSON CREEK: Dan Beltran of the Lower Twin Lake Resort said, "The best opener in 20 years. The first and biggest fish caught on opening day was a 7-pound, 1-ounce rainbow on Power Bait. The other top rainbows were 6-pounds, 7-ounces, 6-pounds 5-ounces and 5-pounds. Lots of anglers with 1.5-4 pounders. The largest German brown was 5-pounds, 7-ounces."

VIRGINIA LAKES AND VIRGINIA CREEK:

Virginia Lakes: No report.

WALKER LAKE: Very slow. Don Quilici and McCulloch of Carson City each caught one cutthroat trout on Saturday. They were trolling in "The Cliffs" area. WALKER RIVERS (EAST-WEST-LITTLE):

East Walker River: Two 4.5 pound German browns taken on Rapala lures.

West Walker River: No report.

Little Walker River: Easy limits of Eastern brook and rainbow trout, up to 12 inches, on worms in the area of the U.S.F.S. Obsidian Campground.

WILDHORSE RESERVOIR: Dennis Dunn of the Wildhorse Resort gave this report, "The fishing is excellent. Lots of rainbows and browns, 14-20 inches, on worms and corn, yellow spinners or black/gold lures. The browns are being caught on gray Roostertail lures. The channel cats are going crazy. We had an 11-pounder caught on worms. The best catfish areas are on the shallow end of the lake and right in front of the resort."
