Brief: volunteers needed for seniors

Volunteers are needed to help seniors to better health and fitness. Volunteers will help in a modest exercise program for seniors. It is and exercise program specifically designed to strengthen the muscles used in walking and getting out of a chair.

A brief training session will be provided to acquaint the volunteers with training specialist Dr. Maria Fiatorone's resistance training and the methods to be used in safely conduction this light, effective exercise program with seniors. After this training, volunteers will be expected to help seniors for 1-2 hours a week on a personal scheduled basis.

The exercise site for the seniors will be arranged by the AARP local coordinator in cooperation with the volunteer. An AARP instructor will assist the volunteers in the initial exercise session.
