A memorial service for Howard William Harney, 87, a Portland, Ore., resident for the past four years, was held Oct. 16 in St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Beaverton, Ore.

He married June Ferguson in 1938.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was a civil engineer for Anaconda Copper Company and then Parsons-Jurden Engineering Construction Corp., in Pasadena, Calif., working in Iran and in various sites in the United States. He retired in 1982.

Among his survivors are his wife, June; daughter, Janis Hansen, of Portland; sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Glover and Robyn Dunn, both of Carson City; brother, Gordon of San Francisco and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Beaverton.

Omega Funeral & Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.
