Obituary: Orpha Jaunita Day Travis

A funeral for Orpha Jaunita Day Travis, 90, a Fallon resident for most of her life, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Travis died Oct. 3 at Carson Healthcare Center. She was born Aug. 7, 1910, in Carson City to George Riley and Martha Louizza Floyd Day.

She had also lived in Idaho and Missouri.

Mrs. Travis was a wife and homemaker and had worked for J.R. Simplot in Idaho. She was a member of the Christian Life Center Church in Fallon.

She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, Tom in 1975; son Raymond, October 1999; brothers Everett, Jess, Clyde and Junior; sisters Audra and Ivy; two grandsons and one granddaughter.

Among her survivors are her sons Alvin and Leonard and daughter Ruby Lee, all of Fallon; son Tom of Bakersfield, Calif.; daughters Freeda Irons of Dayton, Nadine Hartung of Carson City, Betty Travis of New Plymouth, Idaho; brothers Ed Day of Lebany, Ore. and John Day of Mountain Grove, Mo.; sisters Ada Curtis, Velma Renfro and Sybil Farr, all of Mountain Grove; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren.

Interment will be at Churchill Public Cemetery.

Smith Family Funeral Home & Crematory, Fallon, is in charge of arrangements.
