Obituary: Donald S. Mitchell-Harris

A memorial service for Donald S. Mitchell-Harris, 66, a Carson City resident for the past year, will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Mitchell-Harris died June 27, 2000, at Washoe Medical Center. He was born Oct. 11, 1933, in Omaha, Neb., to Cyril and Daisy Goss Mitchell-Harris.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Santa Maria, Calif. for 42 years. He was raised in England and returned to the United States at the age of 22.

Mr. Mitchell-Harris worked for International Telephone and Telegraph/Federal Electric Corp. for 28 years. He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Santa Maria and a life member of the Santa Maria Gun Club. He enjoyed woodworking and trapshooting, and he had a great sense of humor.

He served in the U.S. Air Force at March Air Force Base and Vandenberg Air Force Base.

Among his survivors are his wife of 45 years, Joan of Carson City; daughter Donna Rivers of Dayton and grandson Brian Rivers.

Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, Carson City and Santa Maria or the Cancer Dressing Society, c/o Polly Newell, St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Santa Maria.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Crematory and Cemetery is in charge of arrangements.
