Obituary: Daniels Harry Cooke

A private family service for Daniels Harry Cooke, 82, a Dayton and Stagecoach area resident for the past 20 years, will be held at a later date.

Mr. Cooke died Oct. 17, 2000 at Carson Convalescent Center. He was born Feb. 4, 1918 in Youngstown, Ohio to Daniels H. and Elizabeth R. Corbett Cooke. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Verna Cooke May 24, 1996; sons Daniels Cooke Jr. Dec. 13, 1997 and Jeffery Cooke May 13, 1997 and son-in-law Donald Crawford on March 24, 2000.

Prior to living in Dayton he resided in Costa Mesa, Calif.

Mr. Cooke was a chef.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Costa Mesa; member of the Masons in Youngstown, and belonged to the Academy of Chefs in Orange County, Calif. He also was a musician and played the saxophone.

Mr. Cooke served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Among his survivors are his sons, Gerald of Dayton and Michael of Santa Rosa, Calif.; daughters, Lisa Cooke of Dayton and Judith Crawford of Grass Valley, Calif., 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Cremation is under the direction of Walton's Carson Sierra Crematory in Carson City.

Capitol City Cremation and Burial Society in Carson City is in charge of arrangements.
