Letter: Doctor comes through on holiday weekend

This doesn't happen very often ... but I thought that this was an incident that made my day.

On Wednesday, Oct. 25, I had cataract eye surgery at Dr. Michael Fisher's eye hospital in Carson City. This operation was a piece of cake. I didn't feel a thing, nor did I experience any pain.

The following morning, I had an appointment for Dr. Fisher to check the progress. When the bandage was removed, vision in my left eye was very foggy with blurred vision.

Dr. Fisher told me to come in on Friday, Oct. 27 at 8 a.m. I reported at 7:45. The office was closed. Within a few moments, Dr. Fisher drove up. As we walked into the office, it dawned on me that this was the kick-off day for Nevada's big weekend.

I asked Dr. Fisher if he had come in just for me. He told me that he had. I was dumbfounded, replying I could have held off until Monday morning.

Dr. Fisher then said, "I wanted to make sure that there wasn't any infection. Your vision is coming right along. I'll see you Monday morning."

You be the judge. Wasn't this a perfect example of dedication and compassion?
