Korean War Veterans Association taking form

Northern Nevada Korean War Veterans Association, Chapter 198, recently held its first organizational meeting at Roundtable Pizza in Carson City. There were 17 in attendance.

The following officers were elected: Jules Rutkovitz, president; Fred Williams, vice-president; Pete Rivenburg, secretary and treasurer; Ruby Brawley, chaplain; Arnold Wetzstein, public relations.

It was decided to meet on the first Thursday of each month at 11 a.m. Meetings will be held at the Veterans Memorial Building, 2nd and Curry streets, Carson City, and Roundtable Pizza, Northgate Shopping Center, Reno. Meetings will alternate between the two places, beginning Oct. 5 in Reno, and Nov. 2, in Carson City.

The chapter plans to participate in the Veteran's Day Parade, Nov. 11, in Reno. Jackets and caps will soon be available to all members.

All Korean veterans (all services) are invited to join. Eligibility is based on service from 1945 to the present.
