Carson National Little League wins

GARDNERVILLE - Kyle Cahill and Loren Wooldridge turned in clutch relief pitching performances to lead Carson National past North Tahoe 10-6 during District I Little League baseball action on Monday afternoon.

Cahill came on to pitch in relief of Matt Wagner in the first inning and shut down a North Tahoe rally. Then in the bottom of the sixth, Wooldridge came on with the bases loaded and got a strikeout to end the game and preserve Carson's win in the elimination contest at Ranchos Aspen Park.

North Tahoe scored five runs in the first inning to take a 5-2 lead. Cahill was in charge after that, as he struck out 11 before Wooldridge came on to get the last out and record a save.

Carson National was led offensively by Josh Caron with three hits, including a double, while Jeremiah Teeter, Nick Bacon and Steve Mandoki collected two hits each. Caron had a double.

Carson National, which has won two of its three tournament games, faces Sparks National today at 6:30 p.m. at Aspen Park.
