Today deadline to pay for college classes

Today is the deadline to sign up and pay for classes at Western Nevada Community College, which start Monday.

After Friday, a $10 late fee will be charged and class availability will be limited. The last day students may add full-term classes is Sept. 7.

The college has dozens of programs leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree, including teacher education, anthropology, chemistry, electronics, engineering, geography, geology and history, and others.

New programs include a criminal justice degree for those planning to transfer to a four-year institution, and an associate degree option for those taking the Peace Officers Standards and Training course. There's also a new musical theatre degree.

There are two ways to register at WNCC: Touch-Tone Telephone at 887-3130, or log onto the Internet at www.wncc.nevada.edu.

New students must complete a short application form found in the schedule, on the web site, or available at the WNCC campuses and education centers.

The Internet is the easiest way to view the schedule and sign up for classes. Courses are offered at campuses and education centers throughout Western Nevada.
