Early morning snowstorm dusts Valley

Genoa, Nev. —

No tracks show up on Saturday morning after a snowstorm in Genoa.

Chain controls are in effect for Highway 395 from Johnson Lane south to Bridgeport as a storm left a half inch of snow in Carson Valley on Saturday morning.

Chains or snow tires are also being required over Kingsbury Grade, on Highway 89 from the Eldorado County line to Markleeville and on Highway 208 from Holbrook Junction to Wellington.

According to the National Weather Service, bands of snow formed late Friday night that dumped up to an inch an hour in places south of Lake Tahoe.

Another 9 inches of snow fell at Heavenly Valley, according to telemetry managed by the Natural Resource Conservation Service.
