Registration for intro watercolor class open
For those considering a hobby in watercolors, a local artist will demonstrate what the artform entails.
Teri Sweeney Studios will be offering a 6-week Introduction to Watercolor workshop onThursday afternoons beginning Feb. 4.
This workshop will introduce students to the supplies and techniques used in watercolor painting.
Students will be given an overview of the most cost effective supplies to purchase and will be lead through many of the techniques used in watercolor such as washes, dry brush, splatter painting, using masking fluid and more.
Techniques will be demonstrated by the instructor, Ann Proffitt, and then practiced by the students as exercises that may be framed as miniature paintings when completed.
Proffitt has been teaching weekly watercolor classes using techniques learned from Teri Sweeney for the past year.
Her work has been shown in local shows as well as at the Draft Horse Classic in Grass Valley, Calif.
Sweeney is a nationally recognized artist whose work has been shown in Western art shows throughout the southwest.
Her work can be seen online at http://www.tsart.org.
The workshop will be held Thursdays from 1-3:30 at Teri Sweeney Studios in Gardnerville.
The cost for the 6-week workshop is $150.
Supplies to be used in class are offered to any student who wishes to try watercolor but isn’t ready to invest in supplies for an additional $10 for the session.
