Photographer of celebrities, royalty, presidents next featured CVAC artist

Staff Reports

The next art exhibit at the Carson Valley Arts Council’s Copeland Gallery will feature award-winning international photographer Eddie Sanderson.

The show runs Jan. 4 through March 4.

CVAC will host an artist reception 5-7 p.m. Jan. 8 to introduce the community to Sanderson and his work.

Refreshments will be served.

Sanderson was born and educated in England. His competence and mastery of his craft as an award-winning photographer grew out of years he spent working for British and international publications and TV companies. With over 30 years of experience as a feature photographer travelling the world, his work is syndicated in over 20 countries, with more than 1,000 magazine covers worldwide. His wide range of work includes fine art, celebrity home shoots, fashion, corporate clients, animals, nature, royalty and presidents.

Sanderson is now completing his second book, “Every Picture Tells a Story,” a collection of photographs and anecdotes of iconic music figures and celebrities that he has photographed over the past four decades.

Sanderson says he has reached a stage in life where he longs to revisit his artistic roots. Through digital imaging, this has allowed him to create a unique style of photography, which combines digital art, traditional fine art techniques, and photography. Because the mechanical manipulation of photography is second nature to Sanderson, he is free to concentrate on the expression, emotion and artistic content of each photograph. His photographs are not created by one particular type of lighting or look. He tries to find the unique qualities of the subject or object he is working with rather than imposing a pattern on them.

Each month CVAC features a different artist, perferrably local.

Their work is displayed the duration of the month for the community to view. Some artists feature their work for sale during the month-long exhibit.
