First arts council concert Oct. 4 features DonGato’s Latin Band

Staff Reports

The first concert in CVAC’s 2019-2020 Concert Series will feature music from DonGato’s Latin Band on 7 p.m. Oct. 4 at the CVIC Hall in Minden.

DonGato Latin Band is a group of seasoned musicians that loves the perfect combination of great music, great time and entertaining an exciting audience. The band is comprised of Barbara Kelbo, lead vocalist and guicharo (Puerto Rican gourd instrument) player, Edward Vidales, congas, Orlando (DonGato) Ramos, piano and vocals, Charlie McCoy, saxophone and flutist, Hugo Ochoa, bass, and Harold Muniz, bongos.

DGLB plays vibrant Cuban music in the style of the Buena Vista Social Club — salsa, cha cha cha and Cuban son — along with some Top 40 classics like “Besame Mucho,” “Sway,” “Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps” and “Hotel California” with a Latin beat. The dance floor will be open.

The concert is at 7 p.m. on Oct. 4, at the CVIC Hall in Minden. Advance tickets are $20; $24 at the door; and kids under 18 are free. Tickets are available for purchase online at http://www.cvartscouncil.com, by phone at 775-782-8207, at the Copeland Cultural Arts Center, 1572 U.S. 395, Minden, or at the Douglas County Community Center.
