Christmas programs were held in all of the schools in this county the Friday before Christmas and very entertaining programs were given.

The heaviest snowstorm of the season broke forth last Friday morning and continued throughout the day, thus keeping many at home who had planned to attend the Christmas dance held at Genoa.

More than 100 men are snowbound at Zephyr Cove, Lake Tahoe, but they don’t give a hang. The men are in camp surrounded by snowdrifts averaging 8 feet in depth. They had been building fire trails in the Sierra Nevada Mountains until a recent storm hemmed them in.

The Douglas County School system would receive an additional $12,150 in State aid if $1.5 million above the present formula were distributed next year to Nevada schools.

Jump on the bandwagon and reach for your checkbook- everybody is invited to help send the Douglas High School Inaugural Band to Washington D.C. The 44-member group is the only representative in the Presidential Inaugural Parade from Nevada.

The president of the local Farm Bureau says the danger from mad cow disease could be blown out of proportion, following an announcement earlier this week that a Holstein cow in Washington was infected.
