Chas. Way, who is engaged in the real estate business at Fallon, spent several days in Gardnerville this week. He reports that the Lahontan dam, which is to be utilized in conserving the floodwaters of the Carson river for irrigation purposes at the Truckee-Carson project, is nearly completed.

At a special session held at Minden last Thursday, the board of county commissioners approved county and school budgets for 1934 and while estimated expenses are slightly below those of last year, because of lowering of assessed valuations, the 1934 tax rate will be $2.06.

“In a few years, there will undoubtedly be more machine talk going over the telephone circuits than human speech,” reported Williard Wade, President of California Interstate Telephone Company. Wade said a revolution is underway that will replace the traditional concept of telephone service.

A Gardnerville man who described himself to a U.S. Marshal as “pretty crafty” and dared him to find him, was arrested Wednesday evening at the 7-Eleven at the intersection of Highway 395 and Riverview Drive. Marcel Choux is listed as one of Washington State Patrol’s 10 most wanted fugitives.
