Carson Valley Inn hosts Temptations Review

Staff Reports

After two months without, "I Wish It Would Rain" is a popular sentiment in Carson Valley, and just one of the 20-plus top-10 hits performed by the Temptations.

The Temptations Review featuring long-time member Dennis Edwards will appear 8 p.m. Saturday at TJ's Corral behind the Carson Valley Inn in Minden.

Edwards was the first new Temptation to enter the group after their "classic five" heyday, when he replaced David Ruffin as lead singer in July 1968.

With his rougher gospel-hewn vocals, Edwards led the group through its psychedelic, funk, and disco periods.

Two of the Temptations songs he appears on, "Cloud Nine" (1968) and "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" (1972), won Grammy Awards.

Edwards was the lead singer on many of the other Temptations hits including "I Cant' Get Next To you", "Ball of Confusion", "Psychedelic Shack" and "My Girl". Dennis Edwards has received 7 Grammy Awards, 14 Gold Records, has sold over 100,000,000 recordings worldwide.
