Thursday evenings the town of Genoa are now filled with the sound of music as ukulele enthusiasts come together to play and sing.

All levels and types of ukuleles are welcome 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Genoa Station, 2285 Main Street.

The group began as a small gathering of friends interested in playing the ukulele and has continued to grow each week.

“There was a need for additional space and Fortino Rojas and chef Jesus Rojas, at the Genoa Station were kind enough to host the group at the restaurant on Thursday evenings”, according to Maureen Conlin one of the original members of the Genoa Ukulele Group. “We now can eat, drink, play and be merry every Thursday evening.”

Members of the group play and sing songs from all genres of music from the 20’s to the present and there is even a harmonica player in the group.

“Many of the songs are only three chords so a beginner can learn quickly play along with the group,” Conlin said. “Singing by all is encouraged.”
