The Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center is preparing to transform into a Winter Wonderland.

Its annual Holiday Gala will once again fill the museum with gingerbread houses, elaborately decorated Christmas trees and delicious cookies.

The Gallery of Trees, a part of the museum’s annual fundraising activities, consists of exquisitely themed trees decorated by various service groups, clubs and individuals from our area.

Now in its ninth year, the gingerbread house decorating contest helps evoke a memoir of classic American traditions.

The gala opening kicks-off with a cookie walk and pictures with Santa, and will conclude with an open house just in time for guests to enjoy the Parade of Lights.

“I’m always impressed by the creative talent in our community,” museum volunteer Dennis Little said. “Between the Christmas trees, gingerbread houses, and smell of cookies from the cookie walk, it certainly sets the mood for the holidays.”

The Holiday Gala begins at 10 a.m. Dec. 7 at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center located at 1477 US Highway 395 North, Gardnerville.
