Holy Smoker BBQ and Car Show makes veterans garden possible

Despite cloudy and cool temperatures the Trinity Lutheran Men's Ministry fifth annual Holy Smoker BBQ and Car Show April 30 still drew a crowd.
With nearly 40 cars and mounds of Tri-tip barbecue to eat, the event warranted more than $2,500 and donations to benefit Friends in Service Helping.
"There were 38 registered cars that showed up and I would like to thank everyone who braved the weather," Chairman and Show Coordinator Archie Walker said.
Douglas County Sheriff's Office's Doug Midkiff brought the DARE car out to show off. Officer Midkiff spend the day answering questions about the DARE program.
"Another big thanks to Mike Mazza the store manager of Raley's for providing the 52 tri-tip for the barbecue," Walker said. "As usual it was great. I highly recommend their meat."
Katrina Rowe, manager of FISH provided a truck for the collection of clothing and house hold items.

The Men's Ministry of Trinity Lutheran Church donated $500 towards FISH to be used as needed.
In total Holy Smoker BBQ and Car Show raised $2,607, which will go towards the Trinity Lutheran Memorial and Veterans Garden and FISH. Construction will start this summer.
Next year's event will have a new parking lot for the car show.
