Opening night of “Almost, Maine” boasted high numbers in the audience, according to drama club leader Amy Sando.

The final weekend of the romantic comedy about love lost starts Friday at Douglas High School.

“Friday’s audience was really great. I sat at the back and could hear their reactions — aws and ohs and laughter and sighs,” Sando said. “It is a wonderfully adorable play.”

Showtimes are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in the school’s drama room

“Almost, Maine” takes place in the middle of winter, while the northern lights hover in the sky above. Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in the strangest ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. Love is lost, found, and confounded.

Ticket sales for the show will help cover costs for students traveling to the International Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Neb., this summer.

Ticket prices are $10 general admission or $7 for students, children and seniors.
